Steven Spielberg Working on VR Project

That Virtual reality is about to take off big time when it comes to gaming has been confirmed. However, Virtual reality was a real hit at this year’s Sundance festival, meaning that the Hollywood movie industry soon might get in to VR as well.

Steven Spielberg has for some time now been working as an advisor at Virtual Reality Company (VRC). He is reportedly working with them on a project that is solely for VR, called Ready Player One. The movie will be based on the book ‘Ready Player One’ by Ernest Cline, which became an instant hit when it was released. It made it to the New York Times bestseller list 2011. Spielberg is said to be directing the movie.

According to Uploadvr sources “Ready Player One will roll out with a VR tie-in piece and will feature heavy VR elements”. Dreamworks Animation, a division of Dreamworks SDK which Spielberg helped found, will be producing the movie. Dreamworks has been heavily invested in VR over the past year.

With the first VR-headsets rolling out in just a couple of months, don’t get your expectations up too high. It might be years before AAA-titles comes out for the new medium. Hopefully though, we’ll start seeing progress towards that pretty soon.
